Saudi-led coalition launches operation to liberate Hodeidah
The Saudi-led Arab Coalition in Yemen has launched a major operation to liberate the port city of Hodeidah from the Houthi militia.
Coalition warplanes and warships are targetting rebel strongholds to support ground operations by Yemeni troops.
The latest offensive is aimed at securing international shipping lines and cutting off the Houthis’ supply lines for missiles and weapons.
Measures are in place to protect civilians and limit the damage to infrastructure.
The operation began after exhausting all political means, and the passing of a deadline for the rebels to quit the port.
