Saudi Arabia, UNHCR sign agreement to assist displaced in Syria

Saudi Arabia will provide $5 million to improve the housing conditions of displaced Syrians.

The Kingdom’s press agency SPA says the Saudi Fund for Development and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), signed the cooperation agreement.

It comes as the Syrian crisis has entered its eighth year, which forced more than 6.6 million people to leave their homes and property and to move to other areas within their country, while about 5.6 million have been displaced to other neighbouring nations.

This cooperation from the Saudi Fund for Development will enable UNHCR to provide substantial support for over 13,000 displaced families.
