Qatar Petroleum received no concession over oil field
No concession was awarded to Qatar Petroleum over the Bunduq oil field, which is shared between the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Qatar due to its geographical location.
That’s according to a statement made to national news agency WAM from an official at the UAE’s Supreme Petroleum Council.
It highlights that the field has been operated via a concession with a Japanese consortium for more than 40 years, and that was recently extended through the consortium with no direct communication between Abu Dhabi and Doha.
The official also stressed that the extension has not led to a commercial or trade relationship being established between the UAE and Qatar.
