Pope Francis to visit UAE in February

Pope Francis is set to visit the UAE in February.

In a statement, the Vatican said he will be attending an interfaith meeting.

Making the announcement on Twitter, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the visit will “deepen mutual respect and the establishment of interfaith dialogue”. 

Welcoming the news, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said Pope Francis “is a symbol of peace, tolerance and the promotion of brotherhood”.
