Police promise strict action on reckless young motorists
Police in Abu Dhabi say they won’t shy away from taking serious legal action against youngsters who are caught driving recklessly.
They say motorists who take part in street races and drifting will be fined heavily and have their cars impounded.
Authorities say they also want to crack down on those filming and sharing videos of dangerous driving on social media.
They’re also calling on parents to observe the behaviour of their children more closely and to prevent them from driving recklessly.
Those who are caught modifying their engines without approval will be fined AED 1,000, receive 12 black points, and have their vehicle impounded for a month.
Meanwhile, those who cause noise pollution with the aim of showing off will be fined AED 2,000 and get a dozen black points on their licence.
