Paying for Bags – Tatiana Antonelli, Goumbook

12 June 2018: Will having to pay for plastic bags encourage you to bring your own reusable bags?

Supermarket brand Waitrose will charge customers 25 fils for single-use plastic bags that they supply. This is part of a 12 week trial at 5 Abu Dhabi stores, in a bid to encourage residents to think about the plastic waste they generate and cut down the use. The chain has confirmed that customers can use reusable bags from any brand or supermarket.

Meanwhile, Spinneys supermarket have said they could also begin charging for plastic bags, depending on the success of the Waitrose trial.

We speak to Tatiana Antonelli, CEO and founder of Goumbook.
