Philippines energy sector unaffected by earthquake: officials
The Philippine government has announced that yesterday’s (Friday’s) 6.3-magnitude earthquake didn’t cause any power outages or damage to any of the country’s energy facilities.
The Department of Energy (DOE) did a post-quake inspection on a subsea pipeline and onshore gas plant which has been deemed unaffected.
At the time of quake the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said no damage was expected because the earthquake struck at a depth of 160 kilometers.
The Philippines is on the geologically active Pacific Ring of Fire and experiences frequent seismic activity
