SUU KYI CALLS FOR WORKERS RIGHTS

Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has called for support for democracy in Burma, and warned against economic development which ignores the rights of workers.

She was addressing the International Labour Oganization at the start of her first visit to Europe since 1988.

The ILO has led a long campaign against child and slave labour in Burma.

Aung San Suu Kyi spent much of the past 24 years under house arrest in Burma. She was freed in late 2010.
