RETAILERS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE HOLY MONTH
As Muslims across the world mark Ramadan, many here claim its meaning is being diluted by commercial messages.
The holiest month on the Islamic calendar is becoming increasingly important to retailers across the world who try to cash in over the period.
Souad Al Serkal from the Sheikh Mohammed Center of Cultural Understanding says the season isn’t marked the way it used to be and the true meaning is no longer there.
She claims if retailers were really serious about the message of Ramadan they would donate some of the extra money they make to charity:
