REGION'S FIRST GUIDED WEAPONS MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN UAE

The UAE is to host the region's first manufacturing facility for guided weapons systems.

It'll be a joint venture between state-owned investment firm Tawazun Holding and South Africa's biggest defence equipment maker Denel.

According to national news agency WAM, the proposed facility in Abu Dhabi will develop, manufacture and integrate guided systems for conventional air munitions.

The UAE's Air Force will be its first customer.

Details of the specific products will be announced early next year.
