MUMBAI ATTACKER FILES MERCY PETITION WITH INDIAN PRESIDENT
Indian officials have submitted a clemency plea to President Pranab Mukherjee by the lone surviving gunman from the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Mohammed Ajmal Kasab was one of 10 gunmen who laid siege to the city in attacks that lasted nearly three days and killed 166 people.
The petition is the final appeal stage against his death sentence. The Home Ministry has reportedly advised the President to reject it.
