JOB SEEKERS WARNED TO TAKE CARE OF ONLINE IMAGE

Job seekers in the UAE are being warned to be aware of the image they’re creating online, via social networking platforms.

It’s as a new poll reveals 84% of employers will take the time to research candidates online, before making a final decision.

The Hiring Management in the MENA study, conducted by Bayt.com, collected feedback from more than 6,500 professionals.

Based on the results, the recruitment site has emphasised the importance for job seekers of having a professional online presence, in addition to social networking.

The results also show that external management candidates will have to fight hard for jobs within larger corporations.

42.2% of firms say they prefer to fill their top-level positions with in-house promotions.

The UAE capital's economy grew 7.7% year on year in 2012. The Statistics Centre, Abu Dhabi attributes it to huge financial surpluses, strong growth in non-oil sectors and high oil prices.
Speeding taxi drivers in Dubai are set to face further controls. The RTA has installed a new system on cabs called AMAN which is a self powered sensor that monitors the vehicles.
