EUROZONE GETS BANKING SUPERVISOR

EU leaders have agreed to set up a single banking supervisor for the Eurozone.

The new body, seen as a vital step toward a banking union in the region, will start work next year. 

The European Central Bank has also been given power to intervene in any of the eurozone’s banks.

Abu Dhabi marks 7.7% growth in 2012
The UAE capital's economy grew 7.7% year on year in 2012. The Statistics Centre, Abu Dhabi attributes it to huge financial surpluses, strong growth in non-oil sectors and high oil prices.
New sensors control speeding by Dubai's taxis
Speeding taxi drivers in Dubai are set to face further controls. The RTA has installed a new system on cabs called AMAN which is a self powered sensor that monitors the vehicles.
World marks 'World Refugee Day' today
Tens of thousands of people across the globe today are marking 'World Refugee Day', in recognition of the situation of refugees worldwide.
