DUBAI’S FALCONCITY PROJECT TO START WORK ON TAJ MAHAL REPLICA
Dubai is set to become the home of a replica Taj Mahal, three to four times bigger than the original.
The massive monument is to form a key part of the Falconcity of Wonders project along Emirates Road, which was announced more than five years ago but has been on hold ever since.
The ‘Taj Arabia’ project will reportedly feature a hotel, event facilities and a retail hub.
It will also seek to attract wedding business, with the capacity to host parties for up to 3,000 people.
Speaking at the Cityscape event in Dubai this week, investors claim the project, said to be costing around $1 billion, will be finished by the end of 2014.
The Falconcity development will also include copies of various other international monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, the leaning Tower of Pisa and the pyramids.
