DUBAI’S FALCONCITY PROJECT TO START WORK ON TAJ MAHAL REPLICA

Dubai is set to become the home of a replica Taj Mahal, three to four times bigger than the original.

The massive monument is to form a key part of the Falconcity of Wonders project along Emirates Road, which was announced more than five years ago but has been on hold ever since.

The ‘Taj Arabia’ project will reportedly feature a hotel, event facilities and a retail hub.

It will also seek to attract wedding business, with the capacity to host parties for up to 3,000 people.

Speaking at the Cityscape event in Dubai this week, investors claim the project, said to be costing around $1 billion, will be finished by the end of 2014.

The Falconcity development will also include copies of various other international monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, the leaning Tower of Pisa and the pyramids.

Speaking to ARN News, Falconcity CEO Salem Al Moosa says it’s going to be a major draw:

The Internet will slow down for du subscribers today and tomorrow, as a scheduled maintenance activity on the company's cables goes underway.
Dubai's small and medium businesses showed high levels of confidence for the first quarter of this year.
A new programme is looking for UAE nationals interested in building their entrepreneurial skills.
