COMPULSORY EDUCATION TIL 18 APPROVED FOR NATIONALS

The Government has approved a new law to make education for UAE nationals compulsory from ages six to 18.

It replaces the current rule which stipulates only primary education is compulsory.

The country’s rulers say education is the right of every child and hopes this new law will better prepare young people to become contributing members of society.

Similar to regulations in other countries the child’s guardian will now be responsible for ensuring they complete education.

A failure to do so could see them slapped with a fine of AED 10,000 or land them in court.
