BAE SYSTEMS AND EADS MERGER CALLED OFF

Aerospace and defence giants BAE Systems and EADS have called off their planned merger.

That’s after the deal, which would have created the world’s biggest defence contractor, hit political deadlock.

That’s despite months of talks between UK, French and German officials.

EADS head Tom Enders says he never expected to face such opposition against the deal.
