ABU HAMZA PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN NEW YORK
Radical preacher Abu Hamza Al Masri’s pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges in a New York court.
He’s been charged with 11 counts of criminal conduct including the taking of 16 hostages in Yemen in 1998 and conspiring to establish a jihad training camp in Oregon.
U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest set a trial date of August 26, 2013, after attorney Jeremy Schneider entered al-Masri's not guilty plea.
The hearing came after al-Masri lost a lengthy legal battle to avoid extradition to the United States from London.
A one-eyed radical preacher, al-Masri is one of five men who departed England late Friday, hours after the High Court in London ruled the men could be extradited.
