North Korea has threatened to use nuclear weapons to “sink” Japan and reduce the US to “ashes and darkness” after being hit with a new round of UN sanctions earlier this week.
According to the North’s official news agency, Pyongyang’s Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee called for the breakup of the UN Security Council, calling it “a tool of evil” made up of “money-bribed” countries.
“The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us,” the committee said in a statement.
The Security Council had voted unanimously on Monday to ban the North’s textile exports and cap its fuel supplies.
