New contracts awarded for Sharjah Airport expansion
Three new agreements worth around AED 100 million have been finalised in support of the ongoing expansion work at Sharjah International Airport.
The contracts have been handed to three separate companies that will supervise design and construction, the demolition of some existing structures, and the construction of a new sewage treatment plant.
The overall expansion project, costing AED 1.5 billion will help increase the airport’s capacity to 20 million by 2027.
It involves the construction of new terminals for arrivals and departures, new service buildings, and additional aircraft hardstands, in addition to the development of roads leading to the airport.
Work on the project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
