Myanmar court rejects appeal by jailed reporters
A court in Myanmar has rejected the appeal of two Reuters journalists sentenced to seven years in jail for allegedly violating the Official Secrets Act.
In the ruling on Friday, Judge Aung Naing called their prison term “a suitable punishment”.
Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo were convicted in September for their reportage of the country’s crackdown on Rohingyas.
At the time of their arrest, they were probing a massacre of 10 Rohingyas.
The defence now has the option of making a further appeal to the country’s supreme court.
