Mass grave found in Ethiopia

A mass grave containing at least 200 bodies has been uncovered by police in Ethiopia.

It was found near the border of the Oromiya and Somali regions of the country, which have been plagued by violence for decades, leading to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

According to local reports, the grave was discovered during a investigation into alleged human rights abuses by the former president of the Somali region.

Abdi Mohammed Omer was forced to resign in August following a 13-year-reign, during which time his administration was regularly accused of killings, torture and rape.

He was arrested weeks later following the break-out of violence in Jijiga, the provincial capital.
