Kaleidoscope on #DubaiToday: The Art in Secret Exhibition

From 11am, Sally Mousa, who’s stepping in for Suzanne Radford while away on a press trip, speaks to artist Hadil Moufti and Sharon Harvey, the Director of Showcase Gallery in Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz as well as Naghmeh Manshadi from Evolve Events. Hadil, who took part in the Art in Secret exhibition, Sharon and Naghmeh speak about the ‘Art in Secret’ concept.

It puts the art world into a whole different light i.e. there´s one price for every piece whether it is painted by a very well known or totally unknown artist – therefore the viewer is tempted to buy solely on the concept of loving what he sees in front of him and not by ‘value’ or ‘resale value’ or buying just because he wants to own a piece by x,y,z!

It ran until Thursday January 21, featuring 100 original A5-postcard-sized artworks – painted, drawn and illustrated – and all of them were displayed anonymously.

All of the works are signed only on the back, meaning you had to choose the piece you love without knowing who the artist is.

The Art In Secret exhibition featured the works of internationally-acclaimed professional artists as well as new creators and art students from Mawaheb from Beautiful People, an open studio for adults with special needs.

This encourages people to choose the artwork that speaks to them, rather than the one from the most prominent artist. Every artwork, no matter the artist, was on sale for a flat rate of Dhs500.
