Indian farmers call off protests as government agrees to demands

The farmers protest in the Indian state of Maharashtra was called off after the government agreed to most of their demands.

The state government has given a written assurance and timeframe for implementing them.

Tens of thousands of farmers had marched to Mumbai on Monday to seek government aid.
