India win 5th ODI to claim first series win in South Africa
India have won their first-ever series in South Africa, thanks to a 73-run victory in the fifth One Day International (ODI) in Port Elizabeth.
It gives the tourists a 4-1 lead with just one match remaining.
After losing the toss and being put into bat first, Virat Kohli’s men reached a total of 274 for 7, with Rohit Sharma scoring 115 runs from 126 deliveries.
Hasim Amla led the Proteas response with 71, but India’s wristspinners once again came to the fore, with Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal taking a combined six wickets as they removed their hosts for 201.
The sixth and final ODI takes place in Centurion on Friday.
