India launches another scorpene-class submarine

12 January 2017
India’s second scorpene-class submarine has been launched in Mumbai.

INS Khanderi can perform a wide-range of missions, such as area surveillance, anti-submarine warefare and intelligence gathering.

The vessel was built in India by Mazagon Dock Limited, under a transfer-of-technology agreement with the French naval defence group, DCNS.

It’s set to undergo trials before being inducted into the Indian Navy.
