Halep takes on Wang at Indian Wells
World number one Simona Halep will look to move into the quarter-finals at Indian Wells Tuesday evening, but faces a tricky tie against Qiang Wang.
It’s the first time Halep has faced the world number 55, who has already knocked out two seeded players en route to the last 16, following up a three-set win over Elise Mertens with an emphatic 6-1, 6-2 victory against Kristina Mladenovic, on Monday.
Elsewhere, Venus Williams faces Anastasija Sevastova, Karolina Pliskova takes on Amanda Anisimova, and Naomi Osaka is up against Maria Sakkari.
Meanwhile, in the men’s draw, sixth seed Juan Martin del Potro will look for a third victory over David Ferrer this year, having already defeated the Spaniard in Acapulco and Auckland.
