Football: Champions League roundup
Manchester United, Juventus, Roma and Basel have clinched a place in the last-16 of the Champions League with victories in their final group games on Tuesday.
United overcame CSKA Moscow 2-1 to qualify as winners of Group A, while Basel also went through after beating Benfica 2-0.
Last season’s beaten finalists Juventus progressed from Group D thanks to their 2-0 win away to Olympiakos in Greece, while Barcelona topped the group by easing to a 2-0 win at home against Sporting Lisbon.
Roma edged out Qarabag 1-0 to clinch top spot in Group C, ahead of Chelsea, who had to come from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s men have now dropped into the Europa League.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich defeated PSG 3-1, but that wasn’t enough for the German champions to leapfrog their French opponents in Group B. Celtic grabbed third place in the group, and a Europa League spot, despite losing 1-0 at Anderlecht.
