First Look: PSA World Series Finals Debut At Dubai Opera #SportsTonight

The PSA Dubai World Series Finals are being staged this week at the magnificent Dubai Opera, and both the players and the fans are being treated to some high class sporting theatre as the world’s best players battle for end-of-season honours

The PSA World Tour and its ‘Road to Dubai’ have landed on one of the grandest stages in sport and yesterday, Sports Tonight were granted a unique opportunity to have a game on Dubai Opera’s stunning court. Check out the video below:

These are exciting times for professional squash, with new levels of athleticism and competitive depth on both the men’s and women’s side. Egypt dominates the world rankings, but it’s 34-year-old Frenchman Gregory Gaultier who enters the PSA Dubai World Series Finals as the men’s top seed. In the women’s draw, Nour El Shebini has stormed to prominence at the age of just 21, defending her World Title on home soil earlier in the season.

The 16 best squash players in the world are competing for end-of-season honours at the iconic Dubai Opera

With squash in a rude state of health, the obvious (and oft-asked) question is when we will see the sport be inducted into the Olympic Games? Many keen observers have historically laid the blame for squash’s absence to date at the door of the International Olympic Committee, but PSA Chairman Ziad Al-Turki admitted that it was the sport’s own governing bodies who needed to look in the mirror. In a candid conversation with Sports Tonight, you can hear Al-Turki’s thoughts on squash and the Olympics below:

Fans of squash or anyone who enjoys sport at the highest level played in a stunning venue can enjoy the following matches at Dubai Opera over the next couple of days:
