Facebook shuts 583 million fake accounts in 3 months
US social media giant facebook has announced the closure of 583 million fake accounts in the first three months of 2018.
The move follows calls for transparency after the Cambridge Analytica data breach scandal.
Despite this, the group said fake profiles still make up 3-4 per cent of all active accounts, and added that they’ve blocked millions of daily attempts to create fake accounts.
Facebook said artificial intelligence has helped tackle 3.4 million posts containing graphic violence.
