Eye on Health: Breast Cancer Awareness and Concussion
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At noon Sally Mousa welcomes Dr Pamela Munster, Professor of Hematology/Oncology, Director of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Program and Associate Director of Investigational Therapeutics at the University of California, San Francisco. She is also a visiting Consultant at Zulekha Hospital who are running a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Dr Munster is also a survivor of breast cancer herself.
Then from 1pm we discuss concussion. Childhood concussion is linked to mental health problems in later life. Sports such as American football, rugby, boxing and ice hockey have very high incidence of of concussion.
Sally speaks to Dr Ryan Kohler, a concussion specialist who works in both South Africa and Australia, he is a visiting specialist at Up and Running in Dubai. Joining them is Dr. Kate Jordan, a UK trained Consultant in Family Medicine from Valiant Clinic who specialises in Concussion Assessment and Management.
