EU foreign ministers to impose fresh sanctions against Assad regime
EU foreign ministers are set to impose fresh sanctions against the Syrian government over its use of chemical weapons on its own people.
During the meeting in Brussels, the ministers are likely to issue travel bans and freeze assets of 16 military officers and scientists.
This will take the total number of sanctioned individuals up to 256 since the beginning of the Syrian conflict.
Sixty-seven organisations have also been sanctioned.
