Elena Kinane says her organization had to create its own approach and techniques to grow organic vegetables in the UAE desert climate. Kinane says Greenheart is committed to selling only healthy, preservative-free, and environmentally sustainable products and produce in its farm shop and online.

About the Dubai Eye 103.8 Entrepreneur Awards 2017

Enviroserve presented the inaugural Dubai Eye 103.8 Entrepreneur Awards 2017 to recognize and celebrate the most impactful and innovative organizational and individual change-makers across Dubai.

The award was presented in three categories, rewarding the country’s very best in community, leadership, and SMEs.

Drive Live broadcast live on the 22nd of May from Jumeirah Emirates Towers Godolphin Ballroom, where the nominees performed the final task before the judges chose the ultimate winner from each of the three categories.

Brian Wilkie, Co-Founder and Chairman of Enviroserve, is an entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist with 40 years of experience in the UAE. 

Stuart Fleming, CEO of Enviroserve, is an experienced commercial, logistical, operational and supply chain creator, with a 32-year international career.

Richard Dean is the co-host of Dubai Eye’s Business Breakfast Show and a long-standing business journalist in the region.

Francis Matthew is the Editor at Large of Gulf News, where he was also editor from 1995 to 2005.

Founder of Blue Sky Thinking Group Danielle Suchley was nominated by her employee Sarah Laventure for her inclusive approach to leadership in managing four companies and 50 staff members. Suchley told the Drive Live team that scheduling team huddles at random times is one way she keeps her team members on their toes.

The four Community category finalists all made a strong impression on the judges.

Gulf for Good started in 2001, with charity funds raised contributing towards establishing a community hospital in Nepal, building classrooms in Tanzania, and creating a training centre for disabled children in Sri Lanka, among many other initiatives.

Phil Ellerby, Challenge Director of Gulf for Good, says the well-established adventure and charity initiative is driven by the passion of its volunteers and participants who support children’s charities across the world.

SuperHydrate is a low-sugar, lightly sweetened electrolyte drink mix made in the UAE, especially for workers. Unlike existing energy drinks, it contains the correct balance of electrolytes and carbohydrates, without dehydrating high sugar content.

We pass it forward is a location-based app for parents, helping them to find other parents in their area to pass on their child’s items they no longer need. Children, especially in their first years, outgrow their clothes, toys and gear quickly, but this app makes sure these items don’t go to waste.

Jonathan Impens said he founded we pass it forward to help families reuse and share children’s items more efficiently, saving on costs and reducing waste.

Mums@Work aims to connect talented professional mothers to flexible work, and help them to achieve that balance between their work and family lives. The organization also empowers working mothers through training and workshop sessions.

Managing Director of Mums@Work Louise Karim told the judges her organization has helped more than 1,000 working mothers transition back into the work place after a career break.

Craig Moore is founder and CEO of Beehive, the first regulated peer-to-peer lending platform in the MENA region. Moore explains that his company is trying to be a catalyst to support growth of other SMEs by enabling quicker access to financing. He told the Drive Live team that educating clients and building trust were critical in starting the venture more than two years ago.
