England beat Sri Lanka in first Test

England sealed an emphatic 211 run win in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

After setting a victory target of 462 for their hosts on day three, the tourists removed the Lions for 250 on day four, taking three wickets in the morning session, two before tea and the remaining five in the final session of the day.

Moeen Ali took four wickets for 71 runs while Jack Leach had figures of 3-60.

The victory is England’s first on the road in 13 attempts, as well as their first in Galle.

The second Test gets under way in Kandy on Wednesday, with the third and final match taking place in Colombo from November 23.
