Emirates firms up orders for 36 A380s worth $16 billion
Emirates signed a contract for 20 additional A380 aircrafts and 16 options, firming up the MoU that was announced in January.
The total agreement for 36 aircraft is valued at US$16 billion based on latest list prices.
The deal, which consists of 20 double-deckers with an option for 16 more, is valued at more than AED 58.5 billion.
The signing of the contract is a big breakthrough for Airbus, who hinted that they might stop making A380s if the deal with Emirates didn’t go through.
The Dubai-based carrier says deliveries are to start as early as 2020.
