Eiffel Tower to close Saturday amid Paris riot fears
The Eiffel Tower in Paris will remain closed to visitors on Saturday amid fears of further violence from “yellow vest” protests.
The operator of the Paris monument has offered refunds for tickets purchased online.
French Prime Minister announced the deployment of 8,000 police officers in Paris alone, with a total of 89,000 across the country.
Several museums and cultural sites have also announced their closure, with authorities urging shops and restaurants on Paris’s Champs-Elysees to shut down.
This comes as the government announced its decision to scrap unpopular fuel tax increases in its budget.
