Dubai has a streamlined a five-step procedure for building permits.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a strategy that aims to reduce processing time, unify systems and provide a one-stop shop for permit approvals.
The plan calls for unifying teams for inspections and instituting a three-day response window for satisfactory applications at each stage in the process.
Dubai’s Committee for Building Permit Procedures Development says the strategy was formulated on the basis of research and stakeholder workshops.
The group has established dedicated teams to develop new building regulations, license consulting and contracting companies, study building materials and ensure compliance, and to work with IT companies to develop an electronic payment system.
