Dubai marks GCC Food Safety Week
Dubai is marking “GCC Food Safety Week” with a series of activities aimed at creating increased awareness among consumers, establishments and other stakeholders.
Proper storage, handling and nutrition are just some of the food safety-related aspects coming under focus.
Noor Nasser, food control officer at Dubai Municipality’s food safety awareness and applied nutrition unit, shared the details with ARN.
Throughout the week, food safety tips will be posted on Dubai Municipality’s social media channels, in order to raise awareness about outdoor dining sessions.
The municipality will also organise workshops for restaurants and food industry professionals in multiple languages, aimed at helping them improve their performance rating and reach higher standards.
Jehaina Hassan Al Ali, head of food safety awareness and applied nutrition unit at Dubai Municipality, explains.
Activities of the GCC Food Safety Week will also include a seminar on Food Safety Trends at Dubai World Trade Centre on April 18.
The sessions will be attended by Persons in Charge (PiCs) and hygiene managers of food establishments, officials of foodstuff manufacturing companies as well as 5-star hotels, restaurants and other food outlets.
