Dubai hospital praised for diagnosing rare brain disease
A government hospital in Dubai has received international recognition for correctly diagnosing a patient with a rare brain disease.
After conducting several tests, doctors at Rashid Hospital concluded that the 37-year-old patient had Huntington’s disease – a condition with a prevalence of one in 30,000.
It affects a person’s functional abilities and usually results in a reduction in motor-skills and psychiatric disorders.
The patient, who was previously misdiagnosed at other medical facilities, is now being treated at Rashid Hospital’s Neurology Department.
