Dubai Eye 103.8 partners groundbreaking new amateur cycling event

Dubai Eye 103.8 is proud to announce its title sponsorship of the inaugural UAE Road Cycling Championship, which will hold its opening stage in Abu Dhabi on Friday January 26. An unprecedented event that reflects the rapid growth of cycling in the UAE, the two-stage race will give keen amateur cyclists the platform to compete at an elite level in an event that mirrors the conditions and organisation of a professional tour.

Open to all amateur cylists aged 16 years and over, and culminating with a Dubai leg on Friday March 9th, this UAE Cycling Federation initiative has partnered The National Health Insurance – Daman, through their ActiveLife community programme.

With the Dubai Tour adding a fifth stage for 2018 (February 6-10) and the Abu Dhabi Tour now established as an official UCI World Tour event, the Dubai Eye 103.8 Road Cycling Championship primed to add a genuine stepping stone for aspiring local cyclists.

The Abu Dhabi stage-route has been confirmed to take competitors along the stunning Abu Dhabi Corniche, and, showing that their commitment to a healthier society goes beyond supporting such initiatives, a team from Daman, including the CEO, will also compete against fellow Emirati and Expatriate cyclists for stage-one glory.

The UAE Cycling Federation’s Hareb Al Ali and Onside Sports’ Jeff O’Brien joined Sports Tonight in studio on Wednesday January 10 to discuss the event in detail and you can listen to the full interview below:
