Dozens dead as Taliban fighters storm Afghanistan’s Ghazni
Afghan Taliban have launched a coordinated attack on the eastern Afghan city of Ghazni in the early hours of Friday, leaving several dead and wounded.
According to reports, they’ve burnt police checkpoints, shelled houses and businesses, and seized control of parts of the city.
Officials said the clashes have forced the closure of the main highway linking Ghazni to the capital Kabul, and civilians have been forced to stay indoors.
This comes just days before a possible ceasefire during this month’s Eid al-Adha holiday.
