Death toll rises to 26 in Kerala, third red alert issued
At least 26 people have been killed and several others reported missing as heavy rains and landslides struck several parts of the south Indian state of Kerala.
A third red alert has been issued for the Idukki reservoir, with authorities opening two more shutters of the Cheruthoni dam on Friday.
As many as 8,000 people have been shifted to relief camps, as more rain has been forecast for the region.
Schools and colleges continue to remain closed.
Around noon on Thursday, the Kochi international airport temporarily suspended its arrival operations for two-hours after the runway was flooded.
