Controversial Olympic medalist Lilesa to compete at Dubai Marathon
Olympic silver medalist Feyisa Lilesa is set to make his return to the world marathon stage at the 2019 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon.
The controversial Ethiopian has been in exile in the US following the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he made an anti-government gesture as he crossed the line in second.
However, the recent election of a new government in Ethiopia has seen Lilesa return to his homeland – and set his sights on more running success.
As well as claiming the silver medal in Rio, Lilesa has won marathons in Dublin, Xiamen and Tokyo, a bronze at the World Championships, and finished fourth in Dubai in 2015.
