The Dark Knight Has Arisen

Jul 24, 2012 -- 11:34am

Hello bloggards; another blog to whet your appetites for our remaining shows this week on Entertainment Today with Jason and Zulf driving us through the Holy Month in respectful and light hearted fashion. Plenty of news, sad and good, a plethora of tantalizing interviews with people in the know, a comprehensive countdown to the Olympics and a wind-down to the dream team; the dynamic duo's time in the hot seat draws nearer, much to the sadness of millions of our loyal and devoted listenership.

Our top story however is cloaked in sadness and in the wake of shocking and devastating news in Aurora for one of the year's most anticipated blockbusters; Batman's The Dark Knight Rises was tinged with sadness after the mindless behaviour of one foolish and lost soul. The ripples of such a disaster have been felt worldwide as premieres across the globe have been cancelled as well as affecting the commercial dynamic of the film. Despite trepidation, sensor scrutinizers, anti-gun law lobbyists, outraged parents who believe films like this endorse violence, people have flocked to the cinema and watched the last in Christopher Nolan's denouement in his much vaunted trilogy in a more subdued and sombre fashion. The implications of the backlash have yet to be fully digested and insiders have suggested that the film scheduled to outperform the years other big hits will suffer as well as other 'violent' titles being shelved and release dates being pushed.

On the casting couch we have had the pleasure of hosting Linda Behringer and her concluding ramblings on her trip to Jordan which, as ever, was intriguing, informational and bordering on the downright farcical but always entertaining. No cats this time just a wonderfully painted portrait of Jerash and the Wadi Rum to name a couple that were standout and will be published soon on the website. We had Michelle Walsh from Vox Cinemas telling us about the rebrand and various sub-brands setting them apart from their competitors as well as a rundown of some must see films in the not too distant future.

As the week reaches the midway point there is still plenty of reason to listen on as Tuesday's Spin plans on being less controversial than the last, the Film Crew will have us bowled over, and of course Greg Dufton  who will regale us with tales of Serbia and what to expect this month. Listen or run the risk of not being on our Christmas card list.
