Words and the Power of Language

I had an amazing response to our discussion on language. I discussed the origins of language, the loss of language and how we borrow and merge languages across cultures. I asked the listeners what their favorite word is and the meaning and where the word comes from. See some of your favourites and marvel at the wonderful diversity our words and culture bring to life living in the UAE.

Favourite Swahili word "HAKUNA MATATA" it means "no worries"
In Malayalam mazhavillu means rainbow. Mazha means rain
Hakuna matata swahili language means no problem

My favourite word is (kadam ra wakla) it's in pashtoo and in English it means (Take one step more)

Elilita in amharic is  a sound which  you make using your tongue  when you are very happy
