Cervical cancer diagnosis time improving in Abu Dhabi
More people in Abu Dhabi are getting diagnosed with cervical cancer on time.
According to the capital’s Department of Health, late-stage diagnosis of the disease has decreased by almost 15 per cent between 2012 and 2015.
Authorities attribute the figure to increased awareness about the importance of regular screenings to detect and prevent this type of cancer.
Women between the ages of 15 to 26 are recommended to get vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV) the cervical cancer-causing virus.
In addition to the vaccination, women who are currently or were previously married should undergo the Pap smear test at least once every three to five years.
