Bridge to ease Dubai-Sharjah traffic set for 2018 completion

A bridge between Sharjah and Dubai that will ease traffic between the two emirates will be completed in August 2018.

The UAE’s Ministry of Infrastructure Development says the AED200 million bridge in Sharjah’s Al Badea area consists of nine lanes, six on Emirates Road and three on Sharjah-Mleiha Road.

The project is expected to boost the road’s capacity from 9,900 to 17,700 vehicles per hour in all directions, and can absorb traffic from heavily congested routes such as the Al Ittihad Road and the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road.
