The Business Breakfast Bio
New Zealander Brandy Scott is no stranger to Dubai, or to the Business Breakfast. As long-term listeners will remember, Brandy co-hosted the show for seven years, working with both Richard and Malcolm from late 2006 to mid 2013.
Brandy’s career has also seen her run the features desk of a national newspaper, help put together Radio New Zealand’s flagship breakfast show, appear as a regular television pundit, and write for numerous magazines and websites.
Brandy returned to her native New Zealand two years ago, to study for an MA in Creative Writing. Her novel won her a mentorship with a major international publisher, and she’s now working with them to polish the next draft. But she’s never lost her love for the Business Breakfast – or Malcolm Taylor – and she’s incredibly excited to be rejoining the show at such an innovative time.
Malcolm Taylor comes from a senior management background with Dow Jones & Reuters. Arriving in Bahrain in 1966 with his parents, and Dubai in 1972, he has a 40+ year association with the Gulf.
He has also worked in Qatar, Kuwait, Korea, Cyprus and South Africa in senior country and regional management roles.
Malcolm has co-hosted the daily 4-hour “Business Breakfast” programme on Dubai Eye since 2005. The programme concentrates on local and international business and market topics, and won the “Middle East Breakfast Show of the Year 2006/7” award at the international RadioCast awards.
In December 2012, won the ‘Award for Excellence in Financial Journalism’ at The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales’ Middle East excellence awards.
Richard is one of Dubai’s most experienced business journalists. He’s spent the past decade as a reporter and editor covering the Middle East for some of the world’s leading media outlets, including the Financial Times, The Economist and Reuters.
As a broadcaster, Richard was launch presenter of Dubai Eye’s award-winning Business Breakfast show back in 2006, before moving to London as anchor presenter with Bloomberg Radio.
Now back in the UAE, he’s been the voice of Dubai Eye’s evening programming since 2008, and today co-hosts The Business Breakfast with Malcolm Taylor.
Richard recently completed his MA in Media and Communication, adding to his university qualifications in history and economics, earning the nickname “The Three Degrees”.
Richard lives in Dubai with his wife and two young sons. In 2013, on his 41st birthday, he completed his first Triathlon. It remains to be seen whether it will be his last.
Georgia Tolley is an experienced radio programme maker who started her career in the UK. She spent a decade working for BBC Radio 4, producing respected news programmes, including Today, the World at One and PM, and most recently editing editions of The World Tonight. She’s also spent time putting together radio features around the world, including China, Turkey and across Europe.
Before her BBC days, she worked on London’s talk radio station, LBC, producing renowned talk show hosts Nick Ferrari and James O’Brien. During that time the Nick Ferrari Programme won a Sony Gold radio award for Best Breakfast Show and the Arqiva Commercial Radio Award for Best Presenter of the Year.
Georgia lives in Dubai with her husband and two young sons. Thanks to the toddlers, she doesn’t have any free time, but she daydreams about holidaying around the world, and reading novels on quiet, child-free beaches.
