Ajman cracks down on retailers that 'manipulate' VAT prices

Authorities in Ajman are taking steps to ensure retail outlets aren’t illegally manipulating their prices under the pretext of the Value Added Tax (VAT).

The Ministry of Economy and the Department of Economic Development in Ajman has carried out a series of inspections to monitor prices in several stores across the emirate.

They’re also trying to improve awareness among businesses owners about how VAT should be charged, collected and returned.

The UAE is expecting to make AED 12 billion a year from VAT revenue.
