Afghan singer finds fame as Justin Trudeau's double

An Afghan singer has become an internet sensation for his resemblance to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Abdul Salam Maftoon, a wedding singer from a village in Badakhshan province, got noticed for his looks while participating in the popular television music contest Afghan Star.

“People have forgotten my name and now they just call me ‘Justin Trudeau’,” Maftoon told reporters, adding that he has never heard of his more famous doppelganger.

Some say the attention has worked in his favour, increasing his chances of winning by 50 per cent.
