Abu Dhabi Police urge public to watch out for phone scams
Authorities in Abu Dhabi are reminding the public not to entertain random callers promising attractive prizes, and to immediately report such phone calls.
They are also warning about the dangers of sharing sensitive information like account numbers, PINs or passwords.
A one-month long awareness campaign has been launched by Abu Dhabi Police, highlighting the common types of scam and the best ways to deal with the fraudsters.
The initiative, which addresses the public in Arabic, English and Urdu, is being implemented in partnership with various government departments and media entities in the emirate.
This follows a rise in the number of people losing money after falling prey to phishing scams and offers of fake prizes.
